Happy New Year everyone! Long time no see, I truly hope you're doing well.

I wasn't able to do much bird photography in 2015, so it felt REALLY, REALLY great to get out a few times the last couple of months. Each outing reminded me just how much I love what we do.

Here are a few favorites I hope you enjoy. All C&C are greatly encouraged and most appreciated.

Now a couple of Buttes. My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful road trip through the beautiful Southwest National Parks and Monuments in November. One of the highlights for me was our two days in Monument Valley. The first afternoon was windy which moved the clouds quickly over the valley and provided some dramatic lighting opportunities. On day two we awoke to a snow covered wonderland.

Well my friend, it's just like riding a bike I guess...brilliant series with everything I expect to see from your posts even one low down lying amongst the ants

It is these kind of images that spur me on to get better

Even on my crappy work monitor these are truly standouts buddy

Really glad to see you doing what you love to do again

You really have a way with the flying 'shovels' these are sweet Mr Kirkster! Nice display on the Bufflehead, Wonderful Willet, Good eye from the Gull and Sharp and sweet light on the Shin...........

I am glad you and your wife are happy to show your 'Buttes' too

Gosh that is amazing territory! Just Butte-E-full my friend!

loved the wing position and the snow on the buttes. Monument valley is one of my favorite location in the west.

Thanks Eric, most appreciated my friend. Thankfully no ants this time.

The shooting is the easy part, it's the processing that is always a work in progress as we continually learn new tools and develop more skills to produce better images. I'm transitioning from Nikon's editing software that I've always used, to Photoshop CC. This is necessary because Nikon has moved to a new editing software that I HATE. I have finally reached the point in Photoshop CC where I can get the finished image that I want... and it's actually an improvement I believe over my best efforts with the older Nikon software. That being said, there is still a TON to learn in PS CC.
