My first photo post of 2016 comes in a package with my best wishes for this New Year that I pass to all of you: my friends and followers. Let’s work together in 2016 on making this planet a better place to live, however small and seemingly unimportant our daily actions seem to be, we do influence the status quo. Power to the people! And peace!
On the photo: Mt. Chephren/Pyramid Mountain (3307 m), Canadian Rocky Mountains, December 29, 2015.
Comments as usually are appreciated!
Technical info: I used 3 images for DOF in the foreground and one for the mountain and the sky. All images ISO 400, f/10, 30 sec, 14mm taken one after another.
Temperature that morning was around minus 20 Celsius. Battery lasted about 45 minutes. After 10 minutes all electronic display slowed down significantly but camera operated just fine. The image was taken about 30 minutes before sunrise and the light on the mountains is the first glow of the day.
Artur, this is so beautiful in every respect! Sometimes it's the little stuff that really makes an image for me and in this one, while the composition and colors are sublime, the little bit of light on the ice and in the water creates a wonderful leading line to the mountain peak and moon that completes the image. Nicely done. With this kind of a start, I can't wait to see what else you produce in the coming year.
I am glad you posted this one here. It is such a thing of beauty. Wonderful delicate light and ice. Very nicely done. And also great thoughts, if only we could remove the word "self" and the corresponding actions, and instead make 2016 be about thinking about others instead of ourselves, this would be a nicer place to live.

I absolutely agree with every word Jim says here, especially "if only we could remove the word "self" and the corresponding actions, and instead make 2016 be about thinking about others instead of ourselves,".. Such a great consideration.
Happy photographic journey, everyone.
Arthur.. your photos are very much inspirational. I love this image.
How did you get to this place so close?
Thanks!
Oh my - this is special! The whole pic is gorgeous and your processing is subtle yet with the right amount of contrast but I love the detail and reflection off the foreground ice.

Arthur this is a great photo! Your processing is phenomenal and you got the important stuff right here. The harmony within the colors is superb. Voted for!
