p.1 #1 · Sand Sunrise

Here's my favorite image of 2016 so far

Mesquite dunes of death valley with the Amargosa Mountains in the distance.
Curves, patterns, and shadows contrasted in the moonlight.
A single cloud hangs above, serenading the evening landscape.

Happy New Year Matt!.I love it..Like a reverse Oreo cookie!
Sand really can't be told from snow...the contrasts really make this a fine New Year image.

Another powerful graphic like representation. Have always dug your out of the box approach to landscape!

Hey Matt,

Yes, very cool contrasts here. That lone cloud is really sweet.

So you are already in Death Valley?

Jim, this was shot last fall. I was out all night long till sunrise, alone on the dunes. Was so peaceful, especially with the sands emanating the warm heat from the days sun.

Matt, super kool. It really grabs my attention. Love you you use the available natural lighting when there is very little. Full moon or no moon, best times to do nightscapes!

Very nice image. I love the cropped version as the lower dark portion is somewhat distracting to me.

Great photos Matt. The high contrast really emphasizes the contrast in textures between the "smooth looking" sand and the mountains. Nice work.

Matt - these are gorgeous. I also prefer the cropped version - very sultry.

Thanks again everyone for your input. Looks like the crop version is what everyone prefers. That helps tremendously. Sometimes it's hard to hack off all that extra detail, but ultimately, a stronger composition is what matters most.
