p.1 #1 · Frozen Waterfalls at Johnston Canyon, Banff National Park
When I visited Canadian Rockies last January to accomplish the Abraham Lake's Icebubble shooting, the weather was rather warm. Therefore I did not see any reasonable ice bubbles in the Abraham Lake. With all those disappointments I had to go back to Banff area.
However, I still needed to cover the upper falls from the Johnston Canyon because the previous vist to Canadian Rockies in December of 2014 resulted in only the lower falls from Johnston Canyon. Johnston Canyon is located off the Bow Valley Parkway between Lake Louise and Banff.
Yes, hiking to the upper falls of the Johnston Canyon was very slippery, indeed. Wearing only one crampon didn't help. I had lost the other crampon at the Abrahama Lake.
However I managed to go to the upper falls. The falls was not the best looking I had imagined. Nonetherless, the falls was still beautiful.
Here are two shots.
After posting one shot (2nd one) last night, I have decided to add another shot and post them as a new one.
Happy New Year and Wonderful Photography Year of 2016!

I like them both a a lot - however I'd have preferred the exposure time to be a little faster to give the water just a little texture whilst remaining smooth. Lovely !

I'd second that, Kee.
Thanks Kevin and Vic for your comments. I am sure a little less exposure would reveal some details in the water. I simply did not choose that way to have just milky flow not to compete with the busy surroundings.

Certainly looks a lot better than the Potomac in Alexandria.
Oops! Potomac in Alexandria (you mean McLean?)!!
Thanks for reminding me of those nice locations here near home.
Are you interested in going to Blackwater NRW someday ?

Both are excellent shots Kee. Well worth the effort I'm sure it took to get there. If forced to choose a favorite, I would pick the first one for the color in the water. The second seems to mute the color a bit to much for me.

Hello Jimmy,
Yes, as a very non-active hiker I am, it took me quite long struggling hours to get to the upper falls. At the end, I also needed lots of help from people to climb off the high fence? to get to the ground level with the waterfalls. There were people doing ice rock climbing having all the fun though. My envy.
Each of these two images has its own merits in terms of frames especially. The color can be adjusted later in processing.
Thank you for taking time to give me your feedback.

Well, there, too. I've trail-run the Potomac Heritage Trail above McLean, and let's just say that the immediate shore is non-photogenic... littered w/ the trash you expect to find near a major city. It is what it is!
I might consider Blackwater. I could only glean that it's in MD; would it have a good sunrise location?

Oh, Yes! Blackwater NWR or other Delaware NWR have good sunrise as well as sunset. And you should be able to see some migrating birds as well. Lots of snow geese!!!
