I love the Canadian Rockies especially during winter. It would be much better if it gets snowing, all night or all day.
Last time when I visited Canadian Rockies it was snowing almost everyday. Upon learning that the next day was going to be sunny and not snowing, I got up really early to make sure I could reach the location where I would see this famous train coming. From where i was staying, Lake Louise, this Morant's Curve is not far but I had to be driving really slowly on the Bow Valley Parkway.
Parked the car, set up the camera, and waiting game started. One hour, two hours, three hours.. but no train in sight, either way. A pick-up truck was going on the train track toward Banff, checking to see if the train can run. My fingers, toes, and butts are burning with cold. Had no breakfast nor much sleep the previous night. Some people driving by cheered me up. No photographers but me alone.
I was wondering if I better leave for some other locations, or even wondering what I was doing here!! Many times I was about to go back to my car and drive off.
However, as if the train engineer heard my thought, he did send the train whistle sound from far away, as if saying "Don't leave, I am coming!!".
Yes, of course, I would wait for you!
When I saw the red-colored train, which was exactly what I needed to add some salt to this gray/white scenery, around the corner, I was so happy, and I clicked away continuously until this train disappeared out of my sight!
I was like a small child, waving to the train operator, with my arm all stretched out. What a happy girl I was!!!
Here is one shot. Hope you do have a wonderful and joyful Christmas!
