Stellar work by all! Merry Christmas & A Happy New Yearl Happy Hanukkah too!
Young Mountain Sheep - The blue background is a lake. This was taken near the start of the rutting season. This one will have to wait a few years to participate.
Pika In Early September - Taken in the company of Canada Jim, a walking, photographing pika encyclopaedia.
I have long admired the amazing images posted on this forum, but never posted any of my own. So not without considerable trepidation here are two images taken in the Kgalagadi National Park in South Africa in the last quarter 2015.
Here's the Q4 post. This mink appeared along a river bank and put on a good show for at least 5 minutes while I observed from the opposite bank. Until that day, I'd never seen one. Thanks again Geoff for starting this thread, happy holidays to all...

The following 4 pictures were taken at Sabi Sand Reserve, South Africa. These nine baboons were crossing the shallow Sand river during dry season. They were terrified of crocodiles and spent as much time as possible being airborne while crossing!
The incredible speed and violence of a lion attack needs to be observed to be believed! Lions hunt cooperatively, but do not share during feeding. It is take all that you can, and are strong enough to get away with!
This female impala was freely walking perhaps 6-8 seconds before this picture was taken! The male lion alone made the kill. I'd guess that within 30 seconds of the male lion starting the attack, most of the impala was already eaten by the five lions.
[Looking back, aside from the wolves pursuing elk and wolves pursuing moose, it was a slow year for me. I need to get out more. ]
Here is my best from Q3:
This young grizzly proved that I really needed my 200-400 (212mm) or that the 200-400 is dangerous because you don't zoom with your feet with the 600mm.
She was hanging out in the meadows between Bow Lake and Peyto Lookout and mostly just digging for roots, in between scaring me with her attention and movements to other good roots.

#3--inspired by Geoff's red-necks--a quetzal family in San Gerardo de Dota. The chick at the lower left kept getting ignored. Full disclosure: captured second quarter but processed third!
