Wonderful. Do you use lights very often? I always kinda pictured you doing more ambient light stuff, but you also seem to really know how to effectively use supplemental lighting as well!
Thanks guys. I work in color almost everyday with my commercial work. I prefer B&W when I shoot for me. I am a recovering strobe-o-holic and I prefer to work in available light. Worked with strobes in studio type settings for decades. I find seeing and working with available light to be far more challenging and a lot more rewarding when done properly. In commercial situations I shoot whatever is appropriate and that is usually generated by the clients agents. Folks like art directors, designers, account managers, etc. I rarely post any of that work.
10 X 20 ft medium gray muslin. One key light with 20 X 30 soft box in REAL close (just out of camera) feathered and a large white reflector for fill and a background light (spot). Some vignetting added in post.
Nice portrait and attractive model. Also very nice job on the lighting. Only nit that jumped out at me, and could be quickly addressed is the errant hair on her upper inside edge of her left eyebrow.
Yeah I thought about fixing it. Maybe I will before the final goes out. This was a black tie dinner dance and I think I shot over 100 portraits. Lotsa stuff to still edit.
This is actually something I do a lot of I just don't post this stuff here. This is the stuff that feeds the family. Most of the stuff I post here is what I do for me. I do a fair amount of formal portraiture with a backdrop like this. Some mixtures of available and studio type lights and a fair amount of available light stuff. The approach is usually driven by the client and the look they are trying to achieve.
