Here's an image I've been sitting on since the March trip to the South West. This grand canyon photo was taken high on a perch at the end of the day. The last rays of light catching the distance peaks. The feelings you have when witnessing such natural outdoor beauty is exactly the opposite of sitting at a computer desk ( like I am right now). I long to be back on that ledge. Thanks for taking a look.
Wow.
I hadnt been on this site in a while and like yourself, Im bored sitting at my desk and I was thinking of places to come to pass the time and this was the 1st link I clicked on.
I love the tone and texture on the distant peaks, but if I have one critique, the yellow bush on the left pulls my eye a little, I just find it a little distracting, but your depth of field is immense.
Awesome photo Matt! That little bit of water on the LHS keeps drawing my eye over there though and is a bit of a minor distraction (at least for me). Thanks for sharing!
What a lovely scene! Love the warm skies & canyons going on forever.
I know the feeling of being there & wanting the image to capture it.
For me it's Toroweap
Wonderful imaging, Matt. The sharpness and great control of the minimal shadows really work well. I'd clone out that bit of reflection from the left side, too.
Great photo - I love the color here. Only two comments - highlights on the rock on the right closest to you are a little bright for me, maybe a little burn tool? Also, the water on the left is a little distracting and the uppermost thin layer of dark cloud - maybe a slightly tighter crop.
But that's me nitpicking/giving the constructive criticism I could come up with - this is a very nicely done shot that really highlights the colors of the canyon walls below, something that is hard to capture!
This is an image that is worth letting your eyes wander around in for some time. I did. I really like the composition, exposure, color (and processing) on this. Very nice!

Looks lovely, Matt. You have achieved optimal sharpness here (and it looks possibly even better on 500). I would probably go along with the top cropping suggestion and the left hand river excision to make it even better but - no complaints about this as is! :-)

Gary, good catch, I'll crop it off.

Dan, I can't wait to get to Toroweap. It seams I'm always out West when it's colder, and the roads on the North Rim aren't open.

I've got to give some credit to Andreas Resch, for his web sharpening tool. Makes for a great presentation. Agree on the reflection.

Great critique. I agree Devon. I'll add those edits to the final.

I'm wondering about cropping out some of the sky as it's overpowering the canyon. When I do that it's a stunner

Morris I debated on cropping off some of the upper sky. I'm still on the fence. Thanks for commenting!

Martin, thanks for your input. I don't like redirecting to another site, but the full screen view of the larger file on 500px is sharp!
