Doing long road trips can be a bit tough on the body; long drives (this last trip was ~4,700 miles), little sleep, and lots of hiking. So mixing a little relaxing time into the shooting schedule is always a welcome change of pace, especially if you can combine the two. Next time I'll just remember to leave my clothes and towel away from the steam as everything I brought quickly turned into a block of ice since it was 16 degrees outside. That was a cold walk back to the car. I've tried this shot about four times now in various conditions in the past year and definitely like the "cold" version the best. Especially since there wasn't another soul around and I had the place to myself. Shot with Sony A7r and Zeiss 2/35 ZE. Enjoy!!

Fantastic image! Kudos to you for envisioning this shot. It all comes together with your relaxed pose viewing the range and the lovely sky reflected in the pool.

This is a truly great shot! Did you use some off camera flash? I see this as you looking west at a sun that has disappeared behind the mountains and yet you have some left (from the south) directed light on your arm. Extremely well put together and executed shot!

It's right across from Convict Lake by Mammoth California. It's a pretty popular spot as there are quite a few natural hot springs in the area. Thanks for the comments!

No flash and it was actually taken during sunrise with the sun coming up directly from the left. It does kinda look like sunset though!

Wow, this is great! It's cool how the frosty ground and snow covered mountains contrast with the hot springs. Also, like how you kept the water still enough to get a decent reflection of the sky. By the way, has anyone mentioned you have a future in shoulder modeling?
