There's two great things about this shot Eric: one is that it's not been baited, and two that it's also not someone else's pet. Great behavior shot my friend.

Great light and the pose is super. I've seen owls with that style of wing position but not other birds (and just in the larger owls).
Very interesting.

Hi Eric...

I never thought I'd see a Great Horned AWACS.

Fantastic photograph of a remarkable pose.

Thanks
Tom

Yup, she gathers info and passes around to all the other feathered creatures in the forest...thanks Tom and hope all is well with you.

OH WOW !!! What a great shot Eric.

Birdie

Thanks Birdie...it is quite amazing how she went from just sitting there to this...got 3 shots off and then back to her normal "boring" pose...which of course I still took another few hundred shots of...and related to your comment on another owl post re: the foxes...yes, this has been quite similar and since normally, I'm the only one there it is even more of an intimate sighting.

This is a beauty Eric. The sunset light is a treat and it looks like there were not twigs in the way.

Morris

Thanks Morris...as the light gets lower she tends to move off her more camouflaged perch to a relatively bare one....no complaints from this guy.

Thanks Herb...and yes, being wild makes this even more enjoybable and totally unexpected as well...although I wouldn't mind having one of these as a "pet"...my backyard could use an organic rodent removal system.

Much appreciated Carolyn...there is quite a bit of luck involved don't you think...a little chimping and I would have totally missed it.
