I have to agree that the 5DsR is a niche market body. However, niche market and low sales volume might not equate. It's interesting that the A7r II and the 5Ds are considered equally popular by DPR. IMHO, the sales volume of the two 50 mpx bodies world wide could be very respectible.
I'm sure you would agree that Canon has done their homework here and it's not likely they have dropped the ball on sales predictions for these two bodies.

I really have no idea what Canon's sales expectations were for the two bodies and if those expectations are being met. That one store's sales seem to indicate they are quite low.
Chez, you did not need to post in this 5DS/R thread with a video that is minutes and minutes of propaganda for the Sony cameras and literally two seconds of exaggerated questionable sales anecdote about the 5DS/R.

Yes...I should have posted the time in the video that discusses the sales.
Why is it that you say it is exaggerated questionable sales anecdote? Do you have other more valid sales figures?

doesn't matter....
Agree with Monito, i'm not getting into it.
My only niggle with my 5DsR is battery life. Easy solution, I have extra batteries.
I've heard a lot of good things about the 5DS cameras. some of the feedback seems to indicate the image might be better than the 7D2 at the pixel level.
Has any one done a test where you shoot a scene with a 7D2 and a specific focal length, then shoot the same scene from the same spot with the 5DS with that same focal length and then compare 7D2 files versus the 5DS file cropped to the same field of view as the 7D2?
I'd love to see if there are any real world differences.
My significant other (Deborah Allen) has the 7D2 (and the 7D) - her opinion is that the sensor on both cameras is about equal.
As for the 7D2 vs. the 5Ds - we both agree that the 5Ds has a better sensor (more detail in shadows; can be shot at 1600 iso whereas the 7D2 she only shoots to 800iso).
Of all 3 cameras, the 7D2 is made for shooting/handling fast action...
Attached is a photo I shot yesterday which (to me) illustrates the problem with the Canon sensors/bodies that I have used (all except the 1Dx) - look at the left side of the head (shaded side) - no detail for most of that area. Could a Sony-designed sensor have done better in this situation? Solamente dios conoce'...
Now this may just be a problem of my processing such an image on a laptop in the field - or not.
Bearded Vulture (Lammergeier = Lamb Vulture) - note left (shaded) side of bird's head...any detail in the black?
My personal experience with 7D2 is that the sensor demands very accurate exposure, otherwise there isn't much room to work with in post (LR), especially the shadow area.

I could pull detail out of the shaded side of this image on a 5DS R if it has not already been pulled a lot.
I never heard of the Camera Store. Are they as big as Adormama or the B/H?
Any camera over $2000 is probably a low volume product in terms of sales, just like any car over $100,000. The D4s and 1DX probably sell even less.
None of that can possibly considered a criticism of the 5Ds/R. In fact it seems that those cameras have been good right from the start.
Another reason sales of this model might appear weak is that for the first few months, even the big stores were not getting a lot of units. You can only sell what you have and there were waiting lists just to get the camera, especially the R model. There seem to be units in stock now and we'll see (or Canon will) what they do going forward.
What setting do you use for BIF. I am photographing Eagles tomorrow at Conowingo Dam in Maryland with my 5dSR and was curious as to how your setting differ from the 5d3 settings.

Canada seemed well stock (where TCS is based) - I had no trouble acquiring two 5DSR bodies from there early after release (not preordered).
