We were fortunate enough to travel to Chilko Lake British Columbia for a week of grizzly bear photography. Other activities were horseback riding and fly fishing. The photography was challenging, shooting from flat bottom boats, sometimes in moving water with waves, wind and variable light. Light ranged from bright sunshine to partial cloud to shade and rain and everything in between. I used a monopod and handheld due to the motion of the boat. About 75% of shots were with 7d ii and 500 f4 ii, the rest with 7d and 100-400 ii
These are great...I'm sorry I didn't stop at Chilko on my way back...it was a consideration. Love the looks you're getting in these...it'll have to be part of the destination next year.
Gorgeous captures Mike! I especially like the water colors in no. 7 and the eye contact in no. 8. It must be wonderful to have access to subjects such as these.

Great set of baby grizz... You did well shooting from the boat. All are really nice but I have to give #5 my pick for the expression and great backlighting/rim illumination.
