First of all, I want to thank you for all the well wishes, PMs and phone calls I received during my recent accident. It really changed my perspective on life. The little things I used to worry about in life don't seem as important anymore. What matters most is family, friendship and living life to the fullest. I am still going for physical therapy for my neck which is limiting what I can do physically.
Anyway, I made trip to watch polar bears at Arctic National Wildlife refuge. In September and early October bears congregate at Kaktovic ( small Inuit village at the edge of the refuge) waiting for the arctic ocean to freeze so they can hunt for seals.
Soft pastel colors last most of the morning making this place magical.
Taken with D800 and D3. Main lenses were 600FL VR and 200-400. Even with my neck issues, I was able to handhold the new 600 for many of these shots.
All images were taken from a small boat.
Thank you very much for watching and commenting.

The gunslinger is back....outrageously good.....to say I'm a wee bit jealous is an understatement....when do we get to see these in National Geographic?

Holy Toledo! Just when I think I have seen it all on this board, somebody ups the ante. Bravo! What amazing images. As an irregular on this board, I don't know what the situation is with your accident and treatment, but I wish you a very speedy recovery. If the situation somhow resulted in your taking these pics and sharing them with us, then we, at least, are the better for it. Thanks.
Oh wow, Harsha this is as good a set of Polar Bears as I've ever seen. They are easily among the most soulful and expressive animals on the planet and you've masterfully captured their personalities. Kudos!!
