Beautiful scene, beautifully seen! And, wonderful back story.
One of the nicer comps I've seen from that location. Makes me anxious to get back again - haven't been there since Fall 2007.
Thanks! I am glad you liked it Chaz. Most of my visits here have been in the fall or spring, so it was different with everything green, but I think I liked it.

Awesome photo Jim! The Tetons are such an awesome place, I can't wait to get back there some day! I always hear people talking about going to Yellowstone, but I would rather be an hour south in the Tetons.
The lighting and colors you got in that photo are really nice. I like how the mountains are framed by the trees. The only think I am not completely sold on is the grass in the foreground. I like it, but I am just not sure I like it centered? Either way, awesome photo.
Hey Brad,
Thanks so much for your thoughts, I heard that same comment from my GF. I did take a few shots where it wasn't centered, I worked it several different ways. But in the end, I really liked the symmetry that falls into place with the grass filling the void between the two sides of the tree reflection.

Hi,
I really like the shot. I would like to know what equipment you used. It is incredibly sharp. How was it processed? With Lightroom?
Mike
Hey Mike, thanks so much and I am glad you liked this.
This was shot with the D800E and the 14-24mm. As for processing it was processed in Photoshop CS6, I am not a fan of Lightroom.

Great shot - how early did you have to get there to get the "sweet spot" with the grass in it?
Thanks Steve, I appreciate that!
I got there about 30 mins before sunrise, I layed in the tent a little longer than I should have as I listened to the rain still hitting the tent. As for people, I shot there for 3 sunrises, and it was never really crowded which surprised me. One morning there was 7 or 8 people, but the other 2 mornings there was never more than 2 or 3 people and while I was always there first, we freely moved around and shared spots.
There was this spot, the traditional just to the right of the tree spot. But to the left of it about 5 or 10 feet there was some nice grass growing out in the water which balanced the compositions well too.
Maybe it was all the rain that helped keep more people in their tents? I did notice that there were more people shooting it from the beginning of the Beaver Pond area rather than coming all the way down to the Landing. Either way, it was really nice. Way less people then there will be in the fall.
