Tom Nevesely: It is about 7km (5 miles)from the campground to the peak and 700meters (2400'). The nublet is about 1/2 way there. A good hiker would take 2 hours comfortably however if you are from near the ocean remember you are hiking at 8000' so add an hour. 4 hours to the peak at 9000'. I actually like the spot at the end of the nub where the trees start better - which is only 1 hour or so but requires stitching or 11mm. Glad you like the evening and AM - thanks for the feedback. These are all fantastic! I bet you wish you would've had the clouds from your sunset image in the sunrise shot. Those are some beautiful clouds and would have put the sunrise shot off the chart for me.
Regardless, I would be VERY happy with that sunrise shot and is my pick out of this great set.

nrferguson: Glad you like the sunrise. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott
lighthound: Yes it would be nicer in the 3rd with a cloud. The trouble with high mountains (this is the highest in the region) is that its either clear or really obscured. Glad you like it. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott
Frogfish: Glad you like the triptych. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott

At first look, and every other look I have taken after I really like the first as it just feels so big! So, that is my favorite until I get to the second where the sky is perfectly exposed and beautiful. So, I guess I have two favorites and the third finishes this very nice set strongly!
Beautiful work!

Looks great! Your super clean style intact.
Mark - thank you for your comments and in particular your last two comments. I had not really put my finger (or really thought about) what my style was until I saw your comments.
Now I just have to decide - is that what my intention was

Excellent and natural looking images Scott.
IMO what landscape photography is about. The hike, being out there, and results. Results that everyman shouldn't necessarily be able to duplicate (without their own blood, sweat, and tears).

Scott your images here go beyond the concept of a photograph! The visual appeal of your images takes me beyond a slice of time or a composition to view.
You have combined imagination with concepts of photography to make and tell a beautiful story! You engage the viewer! These images to me produce a very emotional response. They speak to me!!
Excellant as always!!

Great stuff, great location. I like the night shot a lot but like the sunrise of course too. Hard to pick. You inspired me to go the first time and now I want to go there again!

i like the first one. The grass in the foreground adds to the picture as opposed to the other two which despite having a similar foreground element, did not take my eyes there. That said, the night shot is my second fav - the peak at the distance really stands out in that light.

Walt Butler; Glad you like the frame. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott
ckcarr: I agree - landscape photography is great because it combines the outdoors, hiking, exploring and just enjoying and it takes determination to get up in the night, ignore the irrational fear of bears and just keep going back until the weather cooperates. Thanks for the encouragement. Much appreciated. Scott
Danpbphoto: Those are high complements and I appreciate them. Thank you very much. Scott
dswiger: I think the appeal of 1 is the rich color of the grass in the foreground kind of frames the emotion, combined with the other rich colors of sunset. I am thinking of making it a bit darker to match the time better. Glad you like it. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott
