I'm not a big fan of the Sony AF, but the Canon 135mm f2 actually works quite well on my A7R2, via the MB adapter with FW 0.47 Even in AF-C, when light levels are above dusk.

Sorry, if I misrepresented you. I focussed on the first part of this.
OK, what I meant was that it worked well enough even under fairly low lighting conditions. But when people or kids start to move around then it was tougher for the combo to focus. I noticed the slight decrease of AF responsiveness even with a Canon body but still, under those conditions, a high end Canon body would do better. The distinctive advantage of the Sony A7r II is the face detection. Just a word of caution when using a fast lens, such as the 135mmL at wide open aperture, close to wide open, you may get the forehead or the tip of the nose in perfect focus but the close eye is slightly OOF, depending on the position of the "face" or head. Too bad the Eye AF doesn't work with adapted Canon lenses.... That's where native FE lenses come in.
Just got the Metabones IV T (firmware .47) and tested with my Canon lenses on my A7II (firmware 2.0)
Autofocus works well on all of them:
16-35 f/2.8L II
28-70 f/2.8L
70-200 2.8L IS (version 1)
85 f/1.2L (version 1)
EDIT: after playing with it some more I noticed that the 85L hunts quite a bit in less than ideal lighting, often refusing to focus. In good light it focuses well.
What I do not like is how tight the camera side of the mount is.
I also noticed the tight mount on the camera side with my metabones.

Just got my metabones adapter on my Sony A7 II and I can confirm the Canon 200mm 2.8 L II works amazing. I'm so happy I can use this lens again.
Thanks for reporting, I guess that means it works fine on the A7R2 too now. Would love to use my 2.8/200 II on a high res body with exact focus and additional IS ;-)

Has anyone here tried the deo sakar lite adapter?
Hi,
i ordered one direct from Hongkong and got it at the end of November.
It worked good, build quality could be better , the switch seems to be not very solid. Adapter fits very tight on camera.
Af works good with 135/2, 70-200/2,8 II.
But after a week the adapter doesnīt work anymore, seems to be an electronic error.....
I tried to contact deo but lil today i didnīt get any answers
in my opinion itīs a risk to buy it cause you donīt get any support.
now iīm working with a metabones adapter on my a7rII, worked really well with my lenses.

just wanted to provide an update here since I am a new RII owner. I bought the metabones from another member here, and it arrived yesterday. I tried it with all my lenses:
Sigma 50Art - works like a peach!
Sigma 18-35 ART - same as above
85F1.8 - no hunting, AF is fast
35F2IS - easily as fast as on any Canon body
70-200 IS V1 - hunts ever so slightly at 200mm, but locks pretty quickly afterwards
Sigma 150F2.8 macro, works just like it does on my Canon stuff. having a stabilized 150 is a treat!
Tokina 11-16 - fast AF
Samyang 135F2 - no AF, but focus peaking makes using this lens MUCH easier, along with it being stabilized, it will see much more use. Camera feels much more responsive and faster than my 5D3.
Editing my post. Shot with this setup for the first time on a paying job yesterday, both for 4k video and stills, and aside from the adapter and camera losing connection for no apparent reason, I am thrilled with the images and the quality of the video. I have my suspicions on why the adapter keeps losing connection, and hopefully it will be resolved once the grip gets here.

I found that with the 50L as well. There's a little trick you can do, use both manual and autifucs at the same time and it can be almost instantaneous

What kind of lighting conditions did you do these tests in? Curious about the 35 and the 85 performance.

Same here with low light on the 200mm 2.8 L II. Indoors at night with a well light lit room only tungsten light. Lens has a hell of a time trying to focus. I would call it unusable. The 40mm 2.8 will focus but pictures look soft. Both lenses perform amazing outdoors or in decent day light. Like next to a window etc... but indoors low light I would not use them. I tested my Fuji X-T1 and 56mm 1.2 and focus is night and day as far as sharpness. Will have to keep in mind to only use these lenses outdoor or in good light.

I can confirm that the EF 200 1.8 does not AF at all with the A7rMII, (firmware 3.0) using either the Fotodiox or Viltrox adapters. Manual focus is fine.

I was wondering whether the other adapters are upgradeable or not and whether the manufacturer update their adapters on a regular basis. You pay more for Metabones adapters but at least, they upgrade the firmwares on a regular basis, increasing the compatibility of more and more Canon lenses.
I am not related to Metabones in any form or fashion and I am just making an observation.

I'd love to hear why you think the connection is being lost, as I have the same problem sometimes. Perhaps I should have exchanged my adapter, but now I'm way past the return/exchange period. I'll go a few days without it happening, but other times it'll happen repeatedly, and it can be quite a pain in the ass if I'm on a tripod as I'll often have to remove my camera from the head/qr plate to unmount/remount the lens. I'm also starting to take some paid gigs and kind of don't want to look foolish by putting a shoot on hold to take a lens off and stick it back on two or three times....
