p.1 #1 · Metabones II vs III vs IV

I see many here are getting the Metabones IV for their new A7RII's (mine arrives tomorrow).

I can find very little info on the Metabones website about any of their adapters prior to the current model IV.

I have two Metabones EF->E adapters. I'm not even sure whether they are model II or III, and I don't know why I'd want to upgrade to IV.

Please enlighten me. What are the differences? How can I tell which one I have? Why would I want the IV?

Main difference between III and IV is that the IV version is padded inside to avoid internal reflection which some described to be an issue with some lenses. Other than this, it has the same functionality as the III adapter.
The Metabones Smart Adapter II is only good for cropped sensors in the Sony NEX cameras.

Don't forget to update the firmware on your Metabones, they have a update I believe for the A7rII

Actually they opened the throat on the 4 also so Canon shift lenses work better

Version IV can be firmware upgraded by user ... III you have to send to them.

Don't they have two versions of the IV? One painted and one with a flocking.

Yes. The one with flocking is BT4, vs BM4. So confusing.

Interesting. Thanks for pointing that out. I hadn't realized that they were producing a flocked Mark IV. Has anyone compared the 2 Mark IV's with a canon tilt shift lens?

It appears the latest one performs the best as there are less reflections.
