Always love going to Destin and this is the 2nd year with the little one in tow. I would love to make this a yearly thing but I also would love for him to try out the Atlantic like i did when I was younger.

#6 is definitely my favorite. #5 is incredibly unique, did you use an underwater housing or a waterproof camera? The first 4 are nice also, the last two likely have good sentimental value, but looks like shutter speed was too slow on both.

no under water housing, just got into the water and was pretty careful. I usually am but I also go into these situations well aware that if anything happens its totally my fault and only have myself to blame lol.
yes the last 2 are totally sentimental. the first one i took of the wife, and was using the 58 @ 1.4 and was too close and DOF was too shallow. 2nd one I handed to the wife but the SS was too low for her. both of us messed up

Love #5 and #6, but they are all fun! Did he ever finish that ice cream taco (or whatever it is) that shows up in #2 and #4?
he LOVED that thing.. the wife has never had one and refused to take part in that glutton. I grew up on choco tacos so goood. he did not finish it, it melted too much and probably good for him not to eat the whole thing. The birds got what was left and didnt melt away into the water.

Now there's a guy who knows how to enjoy vacation! Excellent pics. Will make for some great memories.

I am learning a better balance between vacation time and picture time. most of that comes from being a new parent and time being devoted to watching the toddler hence why there are no actual beach pictures as I spent the whole time building sand castles with him

These are wonderful family photos! I love your perspective. I'm a big fan of getting low. You see a different character to everything when low, and it brings a lot if interest to an otherwise "normal" photo. Thanks for sharing!

I'm with the others, 5 & 6 for me.
It definitely can be a challenge to balance photographing versus being directly engaged with the family. At the time I feel like I shoot too much, afterward I always feel I didn't shoot enough.

These are all awesome. 4 is just fantastic for the memory, nicely captured.

The first 6 shots are not only great memories but are done with a fantastic artistic flare that just POPS! Great use of DOF and perspective. I also like the color and control of composition.
#7 and 8 are decent shots but lack the artistry of the first six shots. None-the-less, the first shots earn this thread a vote for "Featured Thread"
