p.1 #1 · rocks, high tide, cascading waves, and God rays
Simple shot from yesterday evening at Windansea Beach in La Jolla. We had a high tide, and large surf from a decaying Hurricane. The overcast skies opened up at the horizon just at sunset, and I was able to get a nice series of images. Hope you all enjoy this one.
Shot with my new 6 stop, 4x4 Firecrest Filter from Formatt-Hitech. I found this to be more neutral than the Lee filters which seem to have a strong blue color cast.

Great shot Steven. I really like water movement and all the waterfalls on the rocks. There are few things that I would work on. First is the colour balance. The yellow/ orange of the sky does not perfectly work with blue / cyan of the water. You can try to change the color of the sky closer to magenta. Also the sky seams to be a little too dark and water in the centre of the image could use darkening. Just a few of my thoughts but you can ignore them all. Great image with big potential anyway

ArturS,
Thanks for the comments. Based on your suggestions, I tried lightening the sky, and slightly darkening the water. This did improve the image a little, thank you. The sky is the color it was. I have no idea how to make it magenta. feel free to do an edit and show me what you are envisioning for the image. I've always liked your images, and I am really open to learning.

It is hard to do edit on small web version but I tried few quick adjustment. I balanced the light a little and played with colors in the sky. Not 100% sure about yet but something in this direction.

ArturS,
I understand that working on a small JPEG is very limiting, but I think I see where you are going. I have done my own version based on your suggestions, and I agree it has resulted in a more balanced, improved image. I really appreciate the time you spent with me on this.

Wonderful capture of many interesting elements. I like your second version but I think Arthus' version is more dynamic, a little darker and contrasty mid ground.
