Thanks for the picks, glad you like them!

Is that the Michael Flattley of GBH's in the first photo? Wonderful shots Tim with the light on the last to die for....sort of like what happened in the second image.
Eric

Thanks Eric. Glad you like the off, off, way tf off Broadway bird

Jeez Tim your pictures get so good that we get jaded. All great for us mortals. #5 goes on my wall.

Thanks for the really nice words. As a matter of fact I did order a large print of 5

Nice set of herons Tim. My favourite is the 3rd...I really like the light and pose with dynamic movement and water on that one.
If it were mine I'd crop off the bottom reflection in #1 and just leave the reflection of the splash and yellow part of the legs. I find the large 1/2 bird reflection to be distracting and not adding to the image, it pulls my eyes away from the very nice pose of the subject.

TFS
Geoff

I was wondering if anyone would chime in on the reflection, glad you did Geoff. Thanks for the thoughts and the good words

Taking the common subject and making them great is the sign of great photographer. Taking advantage of the other elements that influence the subject is a great lesson to absorb

#1 Nice balance and comp Tim. Easy to enjoy this, not too much reflection to pull away from the subject. Nice frame filler, nice head turn. A bit of of a splash step for some water dynamics for added drama. Very nice grab!
#2 It still amazes me that those fish jump right up out of the water into the GBH's mouth
#3 ohhhh that light spilled just right onto the eye and cheek! Nice powerful launch shot buddy
#4 probably not my fav of the set but a rather neat fill of the water reflections in the wings and a bit of tension as if the GBH is to crash into the rocks.
#5 Hmm, this one came up 'short' Nice focus on the head, I'm guessing this was a rather close shot too?

Enjoyable set Tim.......

A sweet set Tim. I like each as a part of a series. #1 and 3 strike me the most. #1 talks to me. IMO, there isn't enough or too much of the reflection. Just a thought.

Thanks for the good words and the thoughts on the reflection Ted. I do appreciate it.

1 I'm still struggling with the reflection Karl but I think you and I are close to the same page

3 this one was close but I did get lucky
4 I hear you on this one, I see issues with it but I like the loooong spread of wings in focus

Love #1 but each has a special charm. I'd like to see #1 a few different ways with all the reflection and none. I do like how you chose to crop it however!

What a beautiful set, Tim! 1, 2, and 3 are fantastic, with 2 being just spectacular! You certainly know your subject, as the anticipation required to capture these images so perfectly shows.

My pun on #5 was about the scrunched up pose as it took off as in (came up short) rather than a traditional stretch. The shot was fine buddy, sorry for my confusion in trying some humor.........I'm a little rusty

No harm, no foul Karl. I wasn't sure what you meant but I was good with it any which way. Thanks for the clarification. I guess I'll keep the big canvas I made of that shot
