A humpback whale put on quite a show for us on a grey morning in Resurrection Bay, Alaska. This was near the end of a wonderful two-week trip, and it was a definite highlight.
All shot from boat with 5D3 + 500 II on first 4, then the 100-400 II for the rest.
Thanks for stopping by
Jim
PS I've noticed that all these shots look more soft than the original images. They are hosted on Flickr (where they look sharp) and simply linked here via BB Codes. I can't figure out why the FM images appear softer than the images they are linked to on Flickr. Anyone have any ideas on how to resolve this? You can view the Flickr images in the link below:
Incredible work Jim! I'm betting you had to be quick on the trigger when these guys breach. I can't imagine how wonderful of an experience that must have been. Great stuff!
Super sweet series of breaches Jim...so cool to see these I'm sure. Your timing was perfect and really shows the power the possess. I know my heart would be racing and my finger itching waiting for the next leap.

A great set Jim. I have stopped posting from flickr because I have the same problem you do. Other people don't, and I don't know why ~ Ron
Thanks Ron. I experienced the same issue when linking via SmugMug hosted images, it's bedeviling me.

Thank you, Tim. Yes, it was exciting trying to anticipate when and where he would breach next.

That's exactly how I felt, Eric. It sure was fun and a privilege to see. It was such a good show, the boat captain even started taking picture with a smartphone.
