Scott, that's an extremely epic and excellent experience you actually achieved capturing and presenting for all of us. A one in ten year experience, and your persistence paid of..
I don't predict, but guarantee you are now a triple threat...
I actually really am glad you posted the full version, I like it a lot more, the little reflection in the water and the shoreline lead you in better. The rocks and clouds on the left side keep the eye in the frame better too.
Wow Scott, what a scene to have witnessed, much less record for posterity. Way to be there, and ready!
I have a strong preference for the panoramic composition of the second one. But I would crop more off the right, so that the thunderhead is a bit off center. My suggestion would be to cut it between the two rocks that are furthest away on the beach. I think that will also emphasize curve of the beach leading around to the rocks on the left.
Hey Scott,
Nice to see the wacky local weather captured so dramatically. For what it's worth, I really prefer the second version with the intriguing foreground and orange reflection of the thunderhead. Keep on getting the good stuff!

When I first saw your image, I was impressed and going to comment that I love the light but it would be nice to see the reflection on the water and perhaps an interesting foreground element. I am glad I waited for you to post your second image.
I absolutely think you nailed it now! Awesome work Scott! Got my vote for sure.
