As some of you know I travel all over the southwest US during monsoon season in search of those amazing thunderstorms.
Thunderstorms in the desert southwest have a special quality to them. Nothing like a good storm out in the middle of nowhere.
I don't know why but I am quite addicted in chasing this weather all over the four corner states.
Today my travels brought me to Abiquiu lake in north central New Mexico where the storms fired up nicely in the late afternoon and early evening.
A lot of the time I get skunked with no good shot to show for all my work but today I was rewarded with a very productive storm centered around the sacred mesa of Pedernal.
Pedernal was a very sacred place for the Native Americans and also was well documented in the art of Georgia O'Keeffe.
Anyway my travels today were quite fruitful and wanted to share this with all of you and as a part of this weeks WA.
Have a great day everyone!
Amazing photo Klaus. You have such a gift for composition and you know how to process a shot like this to convey all the drama that it deserves.
Thanks for sharing.
Greg
Beautiful shot Klaus. I also like chasing storms, but usually in the midwest around April and May. I live in Georgia so it's hard for me to get out there as often as I would like. Again awesome shot.
