Nice light, but the lack of detail is somewhat surprising, given the location. Are these cropped in any way? (Then again, my Retina PB can't seem to display this website correctly to save its life so it could be that.)
Thank you very much Christian for the comment but i am not sure what the location has to do with detail. Now distance to subject might be a factor and as far as crop none over 50%

Gorgeous set. When I was in SC I could not get a single shot of those guys. I thought he had a shoe or Jimmy Buffett's flip-flop in #2...
You make good work with the 400 prime. I've been tempted myself to sell the 150-600 for the 400 5.6l. The fast AF would certainly be an added welcoming.

Thank you so much for the kind comment Tyr-Sog We all have lens envy unless we have all the lens's I do like this 400 though its fast its sharp and it is not heavy at all ,the one drawback is no IS .But i have learned to live with that

Before switching Canon I shot with Nikons gem, the 300 f4(no VR) with a 1.4tc on a D600. Looking back at those shots I'm still amazed at the clarity and haing the ability to crop in and retain IQ. I'm not sure if that's because of the FF sensor, Nikons supposed(par from low iso DR, not sure there is an advant.) IQ advantage, the prime optics or just all of that combined. Either way I don't have that ability with my current setup to crop in much. I'm thinking it may just be the zoom not being able to resolve much detail on the crop sensor.
I have no issue shooting without IS. The only negative I can see with the 400 5.6l is the 11' mfd.
Can't get much better than this when it comes to flying herons, Mike... but i'll say that #1 may be the best IF of a BCNH that I've ever seen- awesome!
