The Minnesota State Bird on June 27, 2015. You might have thought this would be a thread about Mosquitoes, but it is actually about the Common Loon. My friend told me about these guys, but I just didn't have time until today to go see them.
Canon 7d II w/ Canon 500mm f4 II and Canon 1.4x III.
Got a few from the inflatable boat before it started sinking.

I think I rushed to get out there and didn't inflate one side enough. Was taking in water when I leaned over to take some photos when they were on that side.

Mike,
Those are fantastic images! Absolutely terrific perspective with the super-low angle, and looks like you captured some low-hanging mist or fog in addition to the early light which really adds some drama to the images. Great stuff!

Fabulous....... you did a fantastic job.
Those guys winter south in New Jersey. There, they look like hell. I think they spend a bit too much time in the casinos, smoke cigarettes, and have been spotted in a tattoo parlor or trashy bar. See below...
Peace

Wow, what a great eye. That is exactly the description of the fog/mist. I was worried when I was driving out because of how thick it was early. Thank you for your nice comments.

Thanks Bruce. We get a preview of that when the chicks are at a certain development phase, but not quite as frazzled as the photo you posted.
