p.1 #1 · The Dandelion

We are on a trip in Montana right now, and the rich greenery is something I am in love with (I'm a native of Washington state so this looks much more like my home turf than the deserts of Arizona). I have more images to share, but this one is really special to me and I figured it could perhaps stand on it's own. So instead of my usual over-sharing, I thought I'd put this one up here as a solo share, and maybe I will share some of the others I've taken on our trip in another post later on. I absolutely LOVE rich, dramatic, moody images and this one has quickly planted itself firmly in my all time favorites list.

So very well done, Lisa.

Your handling of color is such a signature look for you, one thing I really love about your monotone portraits is they still resonate as your work. Powerful as your color is, there's so much more to your style. Very cool.

Regards,

Chuck

I don't know how you make something so simple, so good. Wish we could all be this good.

That's nuts, Dave. I just want Lisa and I to be that good.

Granted, I have a long way to go.

Very nice, Lisa. I like that you have a core style, and you can mix it up without losing the common denominators in your work that make it 'you.' I think you do a great job of light falloff. Glad you posted this one.

Wow really great! You are a master of lighting and processing. Following your work the past few years I have come to the realization that what sets your excellent images way over the top is your ability to connect with your subject. That can only come from within. You're going to be a tough act to follow for a long time to come. Thank you for sharing.

Lisa, your photo reminds me a lot of some of the fading B/W childhood images from the early 1900's that I have of my grandmother. Children of that era often had the same sad look in their face - although for a different reason, I assume...

Great image Lisa. Your B&W treatment does evoke a lot of emotion.
This was well thought-out and well executed.

I always have deeply appreciated your images and your lust for the dark and mysterious too. I like the tones and love the accenting highlights

For me the eye position is a bit 'straining' and a bit of a look 'past' eye contact with us. I would love to see the dandelion more a focus of attention by her eyes as if a gazing ball if that makes sense?

The image does evoke depth and mystery, a great creation Lisa

Thanks Karl, I appreciate your thoughts! For me, her mysterious glance us what makes this shot for me. It wouldn't have nearly the same impact if she were looking at the dandelion. I have many of her doing just that but this is the one that instantly grabbed my attention and kept me coming back to it.

Without any doubt, the mark of a great capture is if it's one you keep coming back to.
I personally like the stare and think that is what takes this beautiful frame to the next level.

Well done Lisa

Matt
