p.1 #1 · Field test review of Canon 11-24 Super wide posted
I've posted my review and field test of the Canon 11-24MM L super wide zoom.
A brief summary:
Expensive at $2,995.00, to be expected given the 11MM wide view and rectilinear construction.
Heavy, over 2.5 lbs. and somewhat ungainly until mounted on the camera.
Large rubber focus and zoom rings have the right amount of drag
Snow globe front end means no standard filters.
Wonderfully sharp and mostly barrel distortion free.
As you can see from the attached photo shot at 11MM, the lens resolution and lack of barrel distortion is amazing.
If you are interested in the lens I invite you to read the review on my blog at www.foto-gizmo.blogspot.com

Amazing lens--love the heck out of mine. Most would be happier with the 16-35 f/4L IS, but if someone wants/needs a rectilinear ultra wide lens, Canon hit a home run with this one! Canon's lenses, especially Canon's recent high-end zooms, are stunning and really push the envelope of what is optically possible.

I am looking forward to today's end - by then I will have it in my hands (as a rental), and will try to spend some time comparing it against other UWA's I have.
I know that I am setting myself a trap, but nerveless I have not seen many comparisons against the Sigma and other UWA in the range Nikon's 14-24 will not be in the corral)
As you say it in your blog, not a travel/walk-around lens (for most), but often I find that 16mm not wide enough - will not replace the 16-35 f4, but will have to be an outstanding anti-flare performer and deliver a crisp contrast - I'll find out myself
ps: I thought the Otus 85mm was ridiculous oversized till I handled this one last week at my local store
