"Didn't do any. I know people that have the S that say the Canon iii works well with it. I may try that one day.

The lens comes with 2 straps. 1 for the case and 1 for the lens I guess. But I did not open them.

Question, anyone with the C, did it come with a strap ?"
______________________________________________________________________

This confirmer's my suspicions, as there were no straps that came with my lens
Read below, and by the way this came from one of the major advertiser's here.

Either it was a return, or a store sample they used to demo the lens, and not a new lens I asked to buy and pay for.. Wont be doing business ever again with them

. When I opened box and removed lens I noticed 2 serious scuff marks on the barrel, also I did not experience what others have, which was it was not jittery in view finder when focusing However I am going to return it for another copy because of the scuffs

I have heard from Sigma the S and C are optically pretty much identical. the S just has much more robust build for weather sealing for much harsher conditions. the AF on my C is pretty fast

They cannot really be identical, even the number of elements is different. Lenstip has just reviewed the C, I might add, and has found some differences in how they perform.

"pretty much identical" is not the same as "identical".

After my brief time using the lens my preliminary conclusion is this: the SIGMA 150-600mm f/5 – 6.3 DG OS HSM Contemporary is very close or equal to the acquisition, tracking, focus, as well as sharpness performance of the SIGMA 150-600mm f/5 – 6.3 DG OS HSM Sport. I felt the acquisition, tracking, and focus speed of the Sport a bit faster but not significantly enough to be concerned with. Center of frame Sharpness of the two seems equal. The two-pound weight savings of the Contemporary versus the Sport is not an issue for me as I can comfortably hand...Show more

Sigma America says they're different.

Sport is designed to offer a higher level of optical precision and contains 24 elements in 16 groups, with two FLD and three SLD elements to control aberrations and distortions. It has a minimum aperture of f/22, minimum focusing distance of 8.5', and maximum magnification ratio of 1:5. The lens measures 4.8 x 11.4", and weighs 6.3 lb.

Contemporary version contains 20 elements in 14 groups, with one FLD element and three SLD elements. It has a minimum aperture of f/22, minimum focus distance of 9.2', and maximum magnification ratio of 1:5 and shaves some dimensions off the Sports version to measure 4.1 x 10.2".

Looking at the optical layout, "pretty much identical" is also an overstatement.

Good thing that I only judge by the image, not the optical layout. I have yet to see any side-by-side examples showing that the Sport gives discernably better results than the Contemporary, despite a "better?" optical layout.

The proof is in the pudding, just waiting to see some decent side-by-side puddings.

The guy(s) over at LensTip.com cooked up some detailed pudding so here you go:

Sigma 150-600 C test:
http://www.lenstip.com/434.11-Lens_review-Sigma_C_150-600_mm_f_5-6.3_DG_OS_HSM_Summary.html

Tamron 150-600 SP test:
http://www.lenstip.com/403.4-Lens_review-Tamron_SP_150-600_mm_f_5-6.3_Di_VC_USD_Image_resolution.html

Sigma 150-600 S test:
http://www.lenstip.com/417.4-Lens_review-Sigma_S_150-600_mm_f_5-6.3_DG_OS_HSM_Image_resolution.html

It looks like in the resolution department the Tamron and Sigma C are pretty close and the Sigma S is a bit ahead. Each person will have to judge for themselves if that extra little bit of resolution is worth twice the price and 2 extra pounds of weight.

I am not sure for myself if it would be worth it for the sigma S mostly due to the weight. I will be sticking with the Tamron for the foreseeable future. Take a look at the resolution graphs and judge for yourself. I have seen enough great photos taken with all 3 of these lenses now to say that under different conditions and in different hands it would be impossible to tell the photos apart.

I wasnt talking about glass layout at all. i was talking about the IQ between the 2 lenses is on par with each other. its the build that makes the price jump IQ is close to the same

Isaac, your photos are razor sharp so you must be cheating somewhere. Just kidding.
But, honestly, are most of your shots closer than 25 feet? Everything else being equal, shots taken at closer distance more often appear sharper than from a farther distance. Just my opinion.

But you are right about build, the S is weather sealed and weighs a lot more and is a bit larger. The C is only weather sealed around the lens mount. As long as AF is the same I would much rather get the C at about 1kg lighter and half the price.

I didn't say "better", I said it's different, and surprisingly so. The two big elements up front made of even more special glass in the case of the S probably explain a part of the difference in price as well.
