Here is one from a month ago in Shiprock New Mexico, a vertical composition in living color as some have asked for.

All comments are welcome.

Beautiful shot Jim. You really had a productive trip to NM/4-corners. The sky is amazing. I'm not looking at this on a calibrated monitor and will check again when I get home, but the foreground strikes me as a just a bit too warm for my taste.

Great and wonderful capture. I have driven by this a few times and never saw the light like this.

Hey Jim:

You lost that little bush that was in the foreground on the black & white version, but the colors in the sky are just so sweet..... I'm going to go with the color version as my favorite.

Very nice!

Tex

Having a nice detailed foreground really gives the eyes a lot to study here, which then leads you back to Shiprock and the great sky. Nice job!

Wonderful light which bring out the monolith as well as the foreground light. Nicely done.

Great composition and lightning.
I am curious of why the scene, esp. the foreground, is not sharp? It is intentional?

I am glad you like it! The foreground could be too warm to some eyes, it is definitely warm. But I did for my final processing actually desaturate the foreground by 10% and added a touch of blue to it. So I guess I can say it was even warmer while I was processing it. I probably need to wait till I print this to see if I cool it off anymore.

Glad you liked it John. If you had seen my previous threads, I knew there was going to be clouds for sunrise and that there was a very good chance they would light up, and they did. It made for a great start of my day.

Thanks Tex! Yeah, I lost that bush, with the idea being I really just wanted that cool caked dirt in the lower left to set off the foreground. I thought it made for a good interest to compliment the look of Shiprock in the rear.

I'm wondering how you could ever have converted this gorgeous sky into b&w (the b&w shot was pretty sweet, though).
Beautiful shot, Jim.

Beautiful. I like this color version a lot. The foreground leads you in and the sky and the small rocks keep you in. A picture that brings pleasure with each viewing.
