I just wanted to share a couple of simple portraits I did of Gabriel, my 20 1/2 month old little boy. I shot these using my Sigma 50mm art lens (LOVE) and natural light.
I went back to the RAW file and it's not like that in the raw file - I think it's because I added a pretty heavy darkening layer to the background. So in the end, it's likely my fault. lol

Nice capture Lisa, is this your garage setup through the garage door? I only ask bc the light from the eyes looks like it comes from above, but if I crack my garage door the light will come up from below, and if I raise it up entirely, the light isn't as directional. Just curious how you have it configured. Maybe blocking the bottom half of the open door?
You should see our garage - it's a disaster - bikes (for 10 kids), shoes (also for 10 kids), our Ranger, tools, my props, 2 freezers and an extra fridge....it's a crazy space. I love the light in there though.

It's all about the light.
Hard to believe he's that old already. A fine looking lad.
This is kind of funny.......I didn't know this was yours when I clicked on it to view and when it open up I thought, man....this is really good. This is approaching LJH kind of good.
His eyes are so sharp and draw so much attention, I'm suprised I noticed it anyway. If I wasn't thinking about the Sigma art lenses, I probably wouldnt have.
One of my favorite Canon lenses renders some funky abberations in oof areas, but only in a small window of the DOF. I was just wondering if this lens did as well.
Great images Lisa. Difficult to say which one I prefer. I will be trying natural light in my carport this spring for images with my granddaughter. Can you please tell me what you used for a background. Thank you.
regards
Ed
Your son, as are all your children, is so cute! This little charmer is sure to break a few hearts.
