Thanks for your response. Makes sense and obviously takes some practice doing it, although I had envisioned much more complicated manipulation to make it all line up.

Take an 11-24 with you!

Really beautiful photo, and well worth the effort you put in. Grand landscape + human element = winner.

I suspect that even the Rokinon 12mm Fisheye would be wider than the Canon 11-24, but I'll definitely be doing some testing. For astro, f/4 is just a no-go usually. Unless I go out when the moon is pretty bright, in which case I start kissing the milky way goodbye... :-(

This is one spectacular shot and I agree the darker one looks better. That location sleeping would not be a good place to have a nightmare.

Nice work, love the stars in relation to the half dome. Agree with Jim about choice of such high ISO.

Will go against the tide here and say that the lighted tent distracts a bit as my eyes keep going there.

Wow...very nice...the illuminated tent is a nice touch, but I do like the darker sky version.
