I like your rendition of Balanced Rock. Most of the shots you see of this tree & rock are a much tighter comp. I like the extra breathing room you gave it.

My favorite color of the day Jim!
I really like the way you compose this one. Congrats.

Thanks Fred! Yeah, I like how just a little increase of the contrast helps boost those twilight colors.

Hey Jim, I am glad you liked this choice. I agree most shots I have seen are much tighter and usually shot from more to the left where the tree arches then towards the rock. And that is a cool view, I have shot it too. But I liked how the scene changed when I moved around to the right more and how that then allowed the right side of the scene to open up more.

Thanks so much Ute! I am glad you liked it. I was excited when I was moving around the area to see how the scene just opened up from this side.
Jim, a great combination of leading lines in the foreground, enhanced by the use of a wide-angle lens, echoed and contrasted by the clouds formation. Great color as well, of course.
Jim, it has many elements of a classic composition. really like the leading lines. Love how you kept the vertical lines of the tree. the tones and colors are very well tamed and natural looking with just the right amount of mid tone contrast. I am thinking of any critique/improvement suggestions, and honestly I cant come up with much. maybe moved to the left a little and rotated camera to the right to exclude the boulder on the left of the image.
nicelydone.
It's gorgeous and above all, for me, an excellent composition. There's a lot going on but it's very balanced as has been stated. I think it's a very mature composition. I can't think of anything I don't like here but if I were to alter anything, I might try to smooth the sky a bit, like noise reduction or something to remove a bit of texture there to generate more textural contrast between the ground and sky.
