Ben,
This is really beautiful. Well worth lugging around that load for sure. When I look at it I feel like the tall tree could be cut of as all the other trees and shrubs in the BG are all ready and a little more room given to the falls in the FG, They carry so much interest in the shot. Thanks for sharing this beauty and this should definitely be the thread of the week

Thanks for commenting Klaus. I love your work so I'm glad you took time to reply. I do wish I had a bit more in the foreground, and this was something I was wrestling with. I ended up going with that composition because the foreground ledge on the lower left ends immediately where the composition ends. It was a matter of having to show a lot more foreground, or chop it before it ended to give the impression that it goes on for much further. My other thought was to back up a bit more to slide a bit more foreground in, but then the right side got a bit funky and become a dead zone. If I end up scanning and printing this one, I might darken the extreme foreground just a bit to draw the eye into the scene and away from the bottom edge. Thanks again!
Excellent image! I tried so hard to get a horizontal composition, but never could solve the sky problem. Glad you were able to work out yours with rear movements. I think it really gives a presence to the falls as well. Another thing I was trying to avoid was that massive boulder on the right, but I think it works really well here...providing a nice border to the right side of the image. Now I've just got to determine if it's worth it to make that hike this year just to get a horizontal image of Archangel Falls. At least now I know what time I have to hit the trail to be first!
A real beauty Ben.
I agree with you when you say that photographing this falls is harder than it would seem and you really solved the puzzle with this composition.
Bravo!
