Such beautiful simplicity. Love the subtle contrast between the colors of the sky and the purples of the snow. Studying the details, differences, and similarities between each tree really adds a lot to the scene. Well done, Matt.
I posted a new black and white conversion which, initially, I thought this shot would be.
@Mark, my three Macs I use are all color calibrated, so I haven't seen how it could look on an uncalibrated system. I imagine the gamut of those pinks and purples is pushing it into unpleasing territory for such viewing conditions. Why color jesus why can't everyone calibrate? I kid I kid.
Very nice! The simplicity of the clean curved ridge line and color is amazing.
I prefer the color version. The B&W actually shows some kind of reflection of the trees in the snow and draws my attention into a specific area of the scene rather than just taking the entire image in.
I was looking to do a shot just like this today except the lighting was terrible and then realized the trees intersected each other and weren't evenly spaced. So basically, it would have been just like your shot except suckier in every way.
I am going to go against the grain and throw a vote to the B and W edit. It's a tough call because I really like the color as well, but for me, the black and white works better because the composition is so elegant, simple and has such good contrast. Great work.
