p.1 #1 · A Walk along Havasu Creek

This time, not the waterfalls, but the creek itself.
Fall is a very peaceful time in the area - reasonably warm, but no crowds. There were in total no more than 10 groups of people camping - including ourselves.
I took some time to just walk along the creek and take pictures. They were almost all taken in a mid-day - about the right time for a deep narrow canyon like this one, especially in a season when the sun is so low.
Hope you'll enjoy looking as much as I enjoyed taking these pictures.

C&C welcome,

Sasha.

I like all of these, but especially 3 and the last one. That water is sure blue, but all images of this area seem to be that color, must be some mineral that produces it.

Ben, thank you, glad you like them! You are right, there are tiny particles of calcium carbonate (limestone) suspended in the water of the creek that cause light to scatter on greenish-blue wavelength.

Sasha - nice shots! Love the rickety looking bridge contrasting with the water. Looks cold if you misstep!

I like the last one best. Great detail in the water and I enjoy seeing the blues in all of them.

John, thanks! No need to be afraid to misstep - creek is at comfortable 70F all year around. I spent hours walking in the water, and it was not cold even a bit . There were swimmers in the pools below Havasu falls, had to wait for them to get out of view

Thank you, Kyle. The last one was taken from far away, with telezoom, was not sure that it will come up so sharp.

Thank you, Scott.
The first one was pre-concieved. When I was looking on a web at all the snapshots people took at Havasupai, I noticed this little bridge, and wanted a picture of it for myself. So I went through the campground searching - there are several rickety bridges, and this one was the most photogenic.

Thank you! It is a great place, although getting there needs some advance planning

All images are great, Sasha, with rich colors and tones wrapped in perfect compositions. Brought back fond memories of when my wife, our youngest daughter (in backpack) and I hiked into that area in 1965.

Keep up the good work!

Douglas, thank you, "lush" is the right word. It looks like tropical paradise, except for tell-tale red rock.

Thank you! These tiny limestone particles really do the trick in coloring the water turquoise blue!
