I've been so busy with work and the holidays that last few weeks that I completely forgot about this thread that I look forward to all year ... until today. As usual, I'm completely blown away by the fantastic images. Thanks for several hours of enjoyment.
It is intimidating, but I hope its not too late to add my small contribution. I did nearly all my wildlife photography in Q2 this year, so I'm going to cheat slightly and post only Q2 images.

#4 Mallard ducklings at the "Turtle" pond at work http://vbnut.zenfolio.com/img/s6/v142/p1017669395-5.jpg
This last one is without doubt my favorite due to the surprising circumstances. I moved into a different building at work the second week of June, and the same day I moved a pair of Mallards with six ducklings took up residence in the "Turtle" pond outside my new office. I got to walk by the pond several times each day and enjoy the visitors. As you might imagine, the ducklings attracted lots of attention, and what with parents bringing their children to visit, there were frequent pedestrian traffic jams .
I was hoping for something special for the fourth quarter like a Great Grey Owl or something in that vein but instead I got lots of veins on the thousands of monarchs wintering in Pacific Grove, California.

My 4th quarter
Decided to use the following shot because this shot was a little sharper, and after shooting in the cold and 20 mph winds yesterday I was getting a little double vision working on the one last night and couldn't tell.
The talent demonstrated in this thread is incredible. Congratulations to all for the wonderful photography and thank you for your friendship and support.
I got out for a few walks with my camera the past year but this trip I was specifically looking for the Lazuli Bunting's that visit Colony Farms in Coquitlam each year.
Even though it was not the best bird shot I took this year, having actually got a shot of one this year as opposed to being skunked in years past, I would have to call it my highlight.
A bit focal length challenged for the shot but no matter, listened to his song for an hour or so anyways. Was a great day.
The talent on this forum is awesome the images prove that.May everyone have a happy and healthy new year and may you continue to take the wonderful images that grace this thread
