Whoa, this is apocalyptic !
This would make a great book/album/DVD cover
You just need to dub in some horrified people running towards you in it!

But seriously, great collection of exposures.

Thanks for posting

Dan

It was an interesting experiment. Had a unique situation where a thunderstorm was moving away from me near the dryline. The air behind the dryline being quite dry and stable, there were no cloud and only stars. The night sky is extremely dark in western OK, so this made for quite the opportunity. Adjacent to this scene you could actually see the Zodiacal light.

That one turbine in the fg kills it for me but holy freakin crap that's a sick shot. I assume something around f4, 30s, iso 800?

Great stuff.

Think it was ISO 200 or so. 20-30 sec and probably f2.8. (14-24mm @ 14)

Stacking left it virtually noiseless, was able to push it quite a bit.

That is great. It has everything but an alien space ship coming through the clouds.
I like it. This could be on some sci-fi cover art.
Very creative.

Hey Derek,

Pretty cool looking shot. Since you shot it and stacked it, how about a scene without the star trails? Did you do a mock up with just sharp stars in it? I love the creativity here, but I think it would be even stronger if you didn't have the curving star trails to distract from the lightning. Anyway, just an idea.

Like the thought. Are you talking about a single frame?

I hadn't tried to stack for the sky yet, I suppose I could do both ways and put it back together.

Here is a single frame:
