Well, this has been my favorite store for years now. I've spent there more than my wife would like to know. I always chose Adorama over B&H because I found the guys from B&H a bit too arrogant for my taste.
I called them to price match B&H on a Sigma DP2 Quattro and after the Adorama guy asked for my phone number, to pull up my account, he literally screamed 'NO'
Probably the $20-25k I've spent there in the last 3-4 years wasn't enough to price match B&H. Not like I asked them to price match one of those noname stores from Brooklyn, it was B&H. Anyway, back to B&H to order the camera.
Btw, B&H has the DP2 Quattro for $599 while Adorama has it for $899.
Two cameras I purchased from Adorama in the last 30 days ($1498 and another one that was $698) are going back tomorrow. I'm done with them.

The reason we cannot match it is because B&H has the WRONG price listed.
As per Mark Amir-Hamzeh, President, Sigma Corporation of America earlier this evening: "They made error on DP2 Q when it should be only on DP M cameras, they will end this".
We have been inundated with literally hundreds and hundreds of calls demanding that we price match. We are NOT going to because the B&H price is incorrect.
[BTW I have similarly been inundated with emails insisting that we have to price match - we don't]
I am sorry for your disappointment, but I can only suggest that you return the DP2 Quattro to us, and purchase one from B&H before they change the price to what it is supposed to be.

If indeed is a price mistake, I apologize. So far I haven't received any cancelation email from B&H.
On the other hand I don't understand Adorama's rep attitude when he 'decided' not to price match after he checked my previous purchases. I've spent a good amount of money there over the last few years, always choosing Adorama over B&H. And even if I was a brand new customer, the rep still doesn't have an excuse. Price match policy should be in place no matter how much a customer has previously spent there. Now, if the rep had told me that it could have been a price mistake, it would be a totally different story. I felt really bad for not spending enough to qualify for the price match policy. And offended.
I have no problem with both Adorama and BH in term of pricing and matching. However, I do have problem with Adorma Shipping. They packed my Canon L lens in a poor condition, less bubble wrap. That is a turn-off for me.

Perhaps B&H haven't yet realised they have made a pricing error?
I can only offer a deep and sincere apology that you were offended by the response from the sales rep. Even though he has probably said "no" to the same question 60 or 70 times today, he should nevertheless have treated you with utmost courtesy. There can be no excuse for rudeness to a valued and loyal customer.
If you can please email me: [email protected] with his name, I will ensure that his manager is made aware of his completely unacceptable and disrespectful attitude towards you.
All that being said, I can assure you that price matching is not on the basis of how much a customer has spent in the past.
Adorama policy is to price match to equally reputable retailers with the item in stock. However, we don't match to mis-priced items, however reputable the store. Ever.

Can you please email me: [email protected] with your order number? It may be a trainee in the packing department made a mess-up, but we'd need to find out who packed it like that, and why.

One of the reasons is always shopped with Adorama is because they ship the day I place the order. With B&H is always 24 hours later, plus the regular 2 business days on the road.

Helen,
There is no way I would get anyone in trouble. It was one of many Adorama reps
On the other hand, the guy did not even mention 'price mistake'. From his tone I'm sure he wasn't aware of such possibility. Heck, I wasn't aware until you mentioned price mistake. I honestly though this was one of those many CyberMonday great deals out there.

Exact opposite here. B&H has always shipped same day if ordered by 2PM EST for me. Adorama - next day.

I don't see how. This has been our position for at least the past 3 years:
Adorama Camera makes every effort to get your order to you as soon as possible. Orders for in-stock items placed on business days before 8:00 PM ET (Eastern Time) are generally shipped the same day (subject to verification, click here for details). Please note weekend orders, placed on Fridays after 1:00 PM ET will be processed on the following Monday. If there is a problem with your order, you will receive an e-mail within one business day to advise you about the situation.
Used items:
We guarantee next day delivery for orders received, processed and verified by 1:00 P.M. ET (Eastern Time) Monday - Thursday, and before 8:30 A.M. ET (Eastern Time) on Friday. Orders received after these times or those which require verification (see below) will be processed the next business day.
Delivery of TVs and other oversized items:
Oversize items like large televisions, which ship by truck, might ship a day later.
Out of 40-60 orders in the last few years Adorama has never been once late to ship.
Helen,
Here is a thread from Nov 28. It looks like B&H has been running this promotion for about three days now. I really doubt they did not catch the mistake after three days. I'm tempted to believe the price is for real Link
Looks to me like the Sigma is a Black Friday / Cyber Monday promotion that B&H is putting on. It's probably a loss leader for them. Seems each retailer will have their own promotions during this period. You can't expect price matching for these type items. You just buy, or snooze and lose. It also looks like the Sigma isn't in stock at B&H but might have been at Adorama?
I just bought this from B&H as it was another Black Friday deal. Only going to last until December 3rd. 50% off. Did not find that price anywhere else.

Sigma has told us the price is incorrect. Unless Sigma changes that advice to us we are not in a position to sell units for that price.
I'm sorry.
edit: our sales manager would very much like to listen to the recording of your call with the rep. Can you please email me; [email protected] with details of the number you called from? Thank you
Helen Oster wrote:

Not the internal personnel matter that may just be two people having a bad day sharing their frustrations
Im wondering if B&H is taking a loss to bring in other business or if their price was a mistake does Sigma have a low limit on what a lens may be sold for and is B&H below that limit ?
