I like the tree, I feel it adds something to the picture.. can't quite put my finger on it.
How did you get the grass perfectly exposed with the sky too? Is this more than one image merged together?
Hi Uber,
This is one exposure with a graduated warming filter (which helps control some of the dynamic range as well as enhance the sky color). Secondly, I processed the RAW file twice, once for the darks, once for the highlights, to better control those tonal fringe areas where the highlight details were getting blown out, and the shadows too plugged.

I like colorful swirls in a sky. Now, are these blended exposures, as its obviously was not a still weather, but tree and grass seem sharp?
Sasha.
Hi Sasha,
It's a single exposure. I don't have the exposure time in front of me at the moment. I usually shoot under a half stop or so with my D800E. Funny, when I shot with my Canon 5DX, I would ETTR to mitigate noise... something I don't miss doing.

Hi Matt! Wow, really dig the shapes of the clouds here. Very nice sky! The processing looks a little funky to me with quite a bit of grain in the sky. Additionally, I don't think that the green lawn does much or anything for the image. The real draw, for me, is the sky and the silhouette of the tree. I think a more abstract approach with just the tree and the sky would have made for a stronger image, all while eliminating the superfluous stuff like the distant trees and telephone wires.
