Beautifully shot and nice job with the processing. Having made my pilgrimage earlier this year I can definitely say that taking the helicopter out is cheating... and I wish I had been able to do so!

Wow, what a gorgeous scene. I really like the colors in this one, as well as the composition. Hearing the story of your attempts to get there adds to the enjoyment of this wonderful presentation. Thanks for sharing this one Sasha.

Thank you, Bill. Glad you like it.

Roger, it changed a lot since 2005 - but enjoyable trip in any case.

This is just a beautiful take on a beautiful location. I can't say there is anything original about the composition but the lighting and processing make it stand out as one of the best photos I've seen from Havasu. Great job. Looks awesome.

Gordon, thank you for the comment! You are absolutely right, there is nothing original about composition, in this particular spot there are tripod holes all over the place

Kyle, I enjoyed your images a lot, and they stimulated my interest a lot. As about cheating, I would not mind to repeat the experience as I enjoyed the flight

Having never been there I feel unqualified to critique this shot. But I will anyway. I love the shot and the composition, and you make me want to go there. But the colors are too bright for my liking. Too red, too blue. Again, that's me from my perspective which may be way off. I still think this is a nice shot.

Pretty picture and I bet that is some spiritual land. Flying in a helicopter I guess on the return trip ? How much hiking getting to the falls ?

Don, thanks. Not sure about spiritual part; Havasupai tribe that runs the operation seems pretty practical - restrooms are super-clean
Took helicopter both ways, did not want to risk my freshly repaired back and knee. Otherwise, its 10 ml hiking from the hilltop to the village, and 2 miles more from the village to the campground (no cheating on this part.)

Ben,

Supai Village is at 3,195 ft, campground at 2800 ft, so it is about 400ft elevation gain/loss.
Here is more details about the trail.

Trailhead is over 5000 feet, giving you about 2000 feet of total elevation change if you hike the whole thing.

Yeah I hiked all the way in last winter, in December, and it was an amazing trip. The hike in wasn't as brutal as I thought it would be, and the hike out only left me slightly delirious, overall it was a great hike and one of the more easy 10+ mile trips I've done with serious elevation gain. Funny story, while we were hiking in, some kid (I assume Havasupai) came strolling up the trail wearing sneakers, baggy jeans, and a school backpack. He acted like it was just a normal day for him! Definitely humbled us a bit. On the way back up, we found an un-opened Dr Pepper that had fallen from the pack mules, and that was a special treat...

I definitely want to revisit the area, and it's definitely my goal to do so in the fall / winter when there is some more exciting weather! (Although rainy season can be a huge threat in the canyon.)

Did you spend a night in the camp? How crowded / un-crowded was it? When we were there in the dead of winter, we practically had the whole place to ourselves...

Great shot!
