Holy bazort BB, nailing these with an 800 + TC is really impressive! Great shots no matter what the circumstances, but you've made a tough technical situation really work. Excellent!

These are very nice, BB. How much noise reduction did you apply? And was it to the whole image or just the background?

Thanks you so very much for your kinds words H!
Noise reduction is done through Nik Dfine on the entire file. When working on images for the web, its simply not worth the effort to me to worry about masking the bird for something to be viewed for a few seconds across many different monitors, many different calibrations. If this was to be for a large print, then I’d do it differently.
The amount varies based upon ISO. The only thing requiring any effort is that sometimes the automatic mode does not sample a dark patch so you have to manual select a portion you want sampled. If it’s in the bird, then it might automatically apply too much noise reduction when working at say ISO 6400. So you have manually eyeball it and reduce the automatic noise selection to whatever is pleasing yet looks reasonable.

Wow, what a lovely collection of eagle shots, Bee. Wish I could have made it up there. I agree with you on the background. Really add to the composition.
