So here I go with the sand again, right?
While my good friend Mark Metternich was exploring places full of water, I was exploring places full of sand
Yes, I always wanted to explore Eureka Dunes in Death Valley NP. There are several reasons for that but a main couple of them stand out. First, these are one of the tallest dunes in US, if not the tallest at close to 700 feet. They are also white sand dunes (maybe not as white as those in New Mexico but quite white nonetheless).
Despite the fact it's just a sand, the place is incredibly full of life, literately an oasis for life in the valley. There are some really good articles on the Internet about these dunes so if you like you can read all about them. Also, they look impressive, and are very photogenic after the sunset (during the sunset they look good too but I was there for the afterglow shots). What I was trying to achieve on this shot was to capture the subtle change of shades and waviness of dunes. The pristine condition of the sand looked beautifully, and this is exactly what this "calming" image is all about.
