Thanks all. If you feel like going to Eureka Dunes now take highway 395 to get there. Don't drive through the valley. It will take forever and roads are horrible (just rocks, dirt etc.). If you get a flat tire there you're doomed
I love the light and texture in both. Excellent photos! I do wish the second didn't have that track along the right dune but the texture in the background is really cool.

Great job, Greg. The little bush adds a lot. Texture is wonderful.
You are lucky to have virgin dunes. We just visited Saline Dunes and surprisingly they were tracked up!
I know exactly what you mean lighthawk. I went to Arizona to shoot the amazing "Pink Dunes" they have there, but everything was just completely shredded. I could not find even a little bit of some "untouched" sand patch I could shoot. I asked for my money back
I get that they let people drive over dues but saving some (half half) would be a good idea.
With Eureka Dunes you won't have to worry about that because they are protected. There's just too much life there going on. I think I read some article on-line that Eureka Dunes host life of 5 species not found anywhere in the world. That pattern on the right dunes someone pointed out was probably made by some snake or something. Driving isn't allowed by walking is so you still have to watch for steps, but if you arrive in the morning they are very clean and in a pristine condition. Go, if you get a chance. Just make sure you have an SUV with good tiers. You will have to drive 10 miles on a dirt road with lots of sharp rocks. You don't have to get any special full size SUV just little elevated. Subaru or Volvo will do just fine...
Hi Greg, I like both images, but for slightly different reasons. The first is nice as the horizontal line across the bottom helps anchor the image and maybe helps provide even more of that calming effect you were going after. However, from an interest/artistic perspective I totally prefer #2 as I find the lines to be just amazing and so dynamic. The bush really helps to convey the scale in the 2nd image as well. The processing is well done. I also really like how you can see the distant sand ripples in the background of the 2nd image. All around nicely done!

Thanks Chris. That's a big write up. I appreciate it.
