Hey Scott...wonderful photos of the white bears. Two questions...
1 You were shooting at iso 1600 but had a shutter speed of 1/5000...am not sure why you wouldn't lower the iso and shutter speed unless you were taking photos out of a speeding car.
2 If you shoot in M without auto iso do find it frustrating not having the exposure meter on the bottom and brighter rather than on the right and dim? I'm at a loss why Canon would have done that.
Terrific images! I like 4 and 5 the best for exposure and processing. The position of mother and cub in 1 is the best, but the clarity is not as good as the other shots,
As far as the overall package of pose and technical aspects of the image I'll have to say the last one is my favorite, #4 is very nice as well, but for pose alone that first one can't be beat.
All: sorry for the tardy response. I have been criss crossing the continent in the last week. Vanouver, Churchill, and Houstona couple of times. Mostly for work but Churchill for fun.
Michael Rucci: The camera is great with surprisingly some teething pains. Some of the improvements GPS (less battery performance), options related to auto iso, are great but new features cause lost shots sometimes while you learn. I think enhanced focus, f8, better higher ISO, better buffer, make this a winner. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott
nwadventurer7: I left northern manitoba in 1982. It was a different place when I left there as young adult. They got rid of the garbage dump and tourism started. But last year 2 people were mauled in the street in downtown Churchill by the bears. Glad you like 1. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott
mabidally: Landscapes were difficult on this trip because you cannot just wander on the tundra but I will see what I have with a bear in it that qualifies as a landscape. Glad you like them. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott
KCollett: 1,6 is my leanings too. Thanks for the input on that questions. Much appreciated. Scott
mpoole: The camera on 600 does very well with some challenging light. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott
luigi645: Glad you like 1. I think it has the best iq, but needs some more processing to increase contrast after I look at it again. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott
David Leask: Its amazing how these big bear mom's are so protective and so fierce when they need to be. Then they send their baby boys off to fight and be mean. Just like humans. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott
kmunroe: Glad you like them. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott
birdied: Glad you like the 1st and last. It was marvelous. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott
pike40: glad you like the last one. For me its a toss up - last one has 3 bears but the first one seems more intimate. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott
surfnron: Glad you like 1st and last. Thanks for the input. Much appreciated. Scott
kosin, Glad you like 1,3,5. It was a great day. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott
birdfreak12: They are a beautiful animal. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott
eyelaser: Glad you like the bears. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott
Lilki: The only thing 1 lacks is the 2nd bear. thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott

I screwed up. You should never take a new camera on a great event. 7dii has a new feature. Auto iso has an option of letting you set the shutter/iso such that it either shoots slower or faster than the 1/mm. I set option to faster and then forgot to check it which caused my iso to be a stop high. it was more sensitive than I thought it would be. So be careful with the feature. With 600/1.4, it should try for 1/1000 or 1/1500, but it went high. Live and learn. Good thing the 7d2 is better than the 7d.
I have not yet started using all the viewfinder features. With the 600/1.4 you have to concentrate to keep the bear in the view. No time for fancy stuff.
B Landau: Glad you like 4,5. I think 1 is good it just needs more processing. I see what you see now too. Thanks for the detailed comment. Much appreciated. Scott
TabHunter: Glad you like 1,5. Much appreciated. Scott
ScottHM: Glad you like 1. I will work on the processing. Much appreciated. Scott
MS PHOTO: Glad you like the set. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott
