Its a bit cold right now. This weekend we might hit 40 on Saturday but I am sure old man winter isn't done with us yet! Going to look for some ducks right now!
I have to say, this lens wasn't even on my radar, but happening on to this thread by accident has absolutely blown me away. I'm not usually interested in these long tele-zooms, but the results in this thread speak for themselves. At this price point and size, it's almost a no-brainer. It looks like the type of lens that is a lot of fun to shoot and I'll be looking for one for myself here soon.

Steve Park- Happy to leave EXIF data, but don't know how.
When uploading, check the box for "show exif", it will show some(if not all) Exif info. Other than that, I don't know how you saved the images, can't tell. Some images show full Exif data, others show just summary, yet some images have all the Exif data removed by choice.
Okay, hopefully this will work. Got out for just a bit today. Here are some images, easily 150 to 200 feet away. Slight crops! Its not 600mm prime but for what I need, I think it will work just fine.

Thanks Steve, learn new things every day. I never looked at EXIF data in Lightroom before. It was there in all the images, but not in the exported jpegs. Found the Metadata panel for setting it up in the export dialog. Should be all good now.
Here is a test. Slow shutter speed shows how good the VR on this lens works. I was hand holding trying to get some blurred background pans of flying ducks. The pans didn't come out so good, but this shot, although not super crisp, is OK considering the focal length, and shutter speed.
Great images, Robb & Steven. You had nice sunny day in Chicagoland!
Unbelievable the mute swan & buffleheads are so close(you're on crop body so it's 900mm equivalent). I need to learn how to get close like you did. Great looking wood duck too. Thanks for sharing the EXIF info as well.
Steve - I have been intrigued by the distance information in EXIF. My 810 & Tammy combo EXIF does not list the lens for whatever reason. I need to add those. My guess is my Lightroom settings are to blame.
But any "Nikkor" lens I mount, the EXIF has the lens information.

Not sure what you meant exactly, but I noticed some images with full EXIF info, most images lack the "tag line 9206" as I highlighted in above.
Was able to take the new-to-me D800 and new Tamron out for a spin at the zoo today. I'm still unsure about the IQ - looks good until I start to crop past 50% (which I realize is probably unfair on a 36MP sensor), then I start nick-picking and it's not super-sharp (again, unfair, I know).
