More parade shots to share. These were taken in my adopted home town of Choluteca, located in southern Honduras on the Gulf of Fonseca. Independence day for Honduras is September 15, and to celebrate there are parades in every population center, be it a larger village, district center, or city. The parades are mostly students representing their respective school, but there are also police, military and politicians participating. The smaller children have their parades the day before in their neighborhoods so they are free to see the bigger event the next day. Its a fun time for the students and spectators alike. Choluteca is a challenge, because of extreme heat, but teachers and parents work hard to keep the kids hydrated. I have both color and B&W images. I'll post the B&W in another thread.
Very nice images! Some of the girls really have beautiful eyes. I like the photo of the men carrying the old M16A1's. Those rifles are older than the men who carry them.
Beautiful pictures! I was just in Honduras a couple months ago for a medical mission trip, in Tegucigalpa. It's such a beautiful country, yea? Most of what I experienced was from within the clinics and through bus windows, but I definitely plan on returning with a camera. I also wouldn't mind retiring on one of those nice scenic Honduran hillsides, in what the locals call $100 houses with $1,000,000 views.
And indeed, the most common problem that we encountered in the clinics was dehydration, causing a lot of headaches and fatigue. I'm glad to hear the people were being proactive about adequate hydration!
What a nice set of photos!
Sharp photos with good focus! Bright and well satuated!
Impressive faces and emotions on them!
I would be glad to see another street portraits of local people and views of your country!
These are great! My wife leaves Saturday to spend 2 weeks in Honduras. She'll be bringing her nursing students to set up clinics in areas that have no medical facilities.
