p.1 #1 · Greenland Glow

The Aurora frames this little house in Greenland. There is no indoor plumbing in this village nor are there any roads. Life is simple. The ambient light is from the streetlights. The icebergs fill the background. I welcome your comments, Thnaks

I thought that maybe you people would like to view something other than the same old cliche spots...we'll thanks..as usual...I feel the love! This is not a composite it is a single 30 second exposure of something most of you will never see in your lifetime.

Pretty stunning scene. Also terrific is how the aurora wraps the barn and creates a very balanced composition. I wouldn't worry about people not giving any feedback today. You posted this right around the time football games and baseball playoffs were on It's great shot and I'm sure it will get some love. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you Jordan...this is actually a house that typifies what conditions people live in. I appreciate you taking the time to view and comment on this image.

That's about the size house my wife and I would like. Not sure if my she could deal without indoor plumbing though

30 seconds seems like a long exposure at the focal length stated.
Stars are pretty defined.

Not refuting the data, I was curious how you pulled a 30 second exposure without noticeable star trails... that's all.
Foreground is clean and in focus so I guessed against a tracker in play.
I live a degree north of 60 yet I get star trails so I thought; maybe being even further north the speed of earth's rotation might be the difference. But, no, that just seems to change the trail's angle relative to the horizon.
Regardless, a nice image to remember your trip north.

Nice placement of the cabin - framed by the aurora. I was there last month. Quite an impressive place.

While scrolling through the posts today on FM, I clicked on your thread and was very impressed by the photo. The composition is great and the color has a mysterious feel to it. I then read your 2nd message, and I must say that I was a bit disappointed with the attitude of the comment and that soured my experience of viewing the photo a bit. Sometimes the forum can be slow at times, and leaving a comment like that after a matter of hours just seems a bit odd to me.

"you people." I like that one, a definite air of superiority...

Well thanks to you for the privilege - not.

I just looked through your current posts here and didn't find one where you commented, complemented, or even acknowledged another member's photography here. Yet you are quick to throw a fit because, over a weekend, we the people did not hop to it and complement you over a 6 hour span.

Even a small amount of participation, and some patience, can go a long ways here. Then people might think "Hey, it's Kalina, let's see what he's got!"

Beautifully composed. I wish the light on the house and foreground was warmer and less yellowish but I'm nitpicking here. It works great as it is.

Wonderfully composed image. But like others have mentioned, your 2nd post is a bit off-putting.

Thank you for the responses..A little guidance goes a long way. Most of the times the only post that receive comments are the same people with the images from the same locations. I am not accomplished like many of you and critiques is what we are all doing here no? I appreciate any help that may be thrown my way but most times my post go unnoticed. We all have to start somewhere!

I really like this image. Great stuff. I would lower saturation on the foreground and also lower the exposure a bit so that the building and lights stand out more.
