Anybody here own a battery grip for Df. I don't care if the grip functions or serves as a dummy grip. I just need a grip to be able to hold this camera. For the first time I gave my Df a good test at wedding I shot this past weekend and I was very impressed but after 10 to 20mins of holding I got tired. It was very difficult to hold for a long period of time.
My Df is up for sale now but if I can find a grip even a dummy grip I will keep it. All the grips I saw in Ebay was from China. I need first hand experience before ordering one.
I got one from ebay for about US $ 50 (incl free shipping), model description BG-2P
You have to take the batterydoor off the camera (batterygrip has a place where you can store it in), and like the F100 the grip goes into the battery compartment
Takes one EN EL14, or 2 for extra juice, although you'll then have to make an extra connection with an external cable
Built quality is definitely OK, hardly adds any extra weight when used with one battery. Of course all made of plastic, but pretty sturdy. Don't know how it will hold on a tripod, with the tripod attached to the grip, and a big lens. Of course a big lens would have its own tripod collar, so the question is of course purely theoretical
Bought it as I find the DF excellent for holding with old manual glass, but out of balance for hand held shooting with with (bigger) modern AF lenses like the 1.4/85 and 2.8/70-200. With the grip the problem is solved (and grip improves although as said I have no issues with that with smaller lenses)
So no problems, and considering the price and quality IMO quite an acceptable compromise

Did you buys yours from China? So many of them. Not sure which one to get.

I sent a product request to KIRK asking them to make an arca-plate with add-on grip for the Df... something like this for the Fuji XE-1. Now come to think of it, maybe I can buy this and modify it to fit the Df First seller who comes up with this for the Df will make TONS of money!

Yep! If someone comes out with this specifically for the Df I will buy 10 cameras!
I got my Nikon DFGR1 from Ebay seller takey-jp2014. Shipping from Japan to the USA was quite quick. This is just an add-on grip, with no battery. The Df battery seems go on almost forever, so additional battery capacity is less needed.
