Nice shots. #1 is my favorite for several reasons - simplicity of the shot, catching an innocent childhood moment, tonal symmetry (light girl against dark background, light foreground with dark shadow), symmetry of the girl and her shadow and backlit blond hair.

Thanks everyone! Here's a re-edit of the boat pic. I added a bit of her face peeking through and changed the colors a bit. I felt the first one was too green. But is this one too orange And do you have a preference...face or no face?

I like her face in it. The last edit is better as well. The color changes match the mood, sunset, hair and feel of the photo better. Good job

I agree - I like the new edit. Photos are nice, simple and intriguing. For me she looks a bit too cut and pasted into the frame because of the lighting though

beautiful - you could add some shots from underwater and with a floating candle being launched

she will really appreciate looking at those photos when she is 20, 30, 40 years older

I liked the first pic, but felt the lack of the face was an important aspect that should have been there. Then came your edit - hooray! The face appears.

Nice work in all of the shots.

All these photos were taken on a full frame camera, with my 135mm prime, at f2.2. That 'cut and paste' look is a characteristic of this lens at open apertures, and even more enhanced being on a full frame. That's why I LOVE this lens...makes the subjects literally pop out of the picture!

For me it was more the lighting/exposure that I found confusing. In the bokeh in the out of focus areas you can kind of see what I'm talking about for the lower exposure.

I love the DOF and pop the 135 creates and I still think you have some wonderfully intriguing photos.

Yes, I definitely pushed the exposure on the girl quite a bit. Am getting bored with run of the mill editing so I set out to do something a bit more dramatic than my usual. There was a fine line between 'everyday' and 'pop' when i was upping her exposure. And so I crossed over into the 'pop' :-) Thanks for your thoughts!

Gotcha! I do think you achieved a whimsical feel which is pretty cool. I like how the warmed up version helps with that. Looks like a fun time too.

First shot is lovely. I actually prefer without the face and with the colors of the second edit.

For my taste the last two shots don't work as well with the pushed exposure. Especially the last shot just looks to much like the radial exposure thingy in light room. Just my own tastes however as I can certainly appreciate your desire to do something different. All in all a nice set.
