Came out of retirement for a friend, shooting her daughter's senior photos. The daughter is studying fashion so wanted an urban/fashion styled shoot. Had a great time shooting even though I'm rusty. The family loved the results and I'm mostly pleased with them too.

They chose a gritty post processing for a more urban flavor
Very nice. She is stunning. My nits would be in #3 - the stray hairs trailing out of the right side of the frame draw my attention. I would have cloned them out if it was me, but it's really a nitpick. Otherwise that shot is killer.
The bright sign in the last one kind of draws my attention too.

Very nice portrait series ... well done with a fine sense of fashion / style.
Judging by your web page, I cannot see how you could consider retirement. Your work is excellent indeed.
Thanks for your kind words. I retired to be a stay at home dad for my twins, its their last four years before off to university and I didn't want to miss them. I may re-open once they are gone.

Please... go back into retirement. You're making those of us who do this all the time look bad.
These are really nice. I can see how they're so happy with them.
I've seen beautiful work here, but will go back to retirement immediately

Wow, a beautiful girl AND great photography at the same time. I hope she likes them.
Thanks Dave, she did like them and her mom cried during the whole slideshow presentation.

Thanks for the input, these aren't final copies, just quick edits for the sales presentation. I'll edit each a little more before printing. I could list the edits for each, but don't think many would want to read all that. I did edit out the bright sign in one version to see what it looked like, but it made the portrait very two dimensional, really reducing the depth so left it in. Thanks again.

These aren't your typical Olin Mills senior photos. Great job.
Poor Olin Mills! Actually, I didn't realise they were still around

You are the reason I don't photograph seniors. The bar is too high.
Old Fart
Old Fart, you should give it a go. The seniors are a joy, they actually want to celebrate their senior status and are happy during the session, unlike most teen shoots.

Rust ? ! ? ! ?? What rust ??
Damnnit, you look like a pro !!!!!
Awesome images, especially 2 & 3 .
No criticisms for you.
TFS !
Thanks! I made my living at photography so guess I was a pro, but there are certain aspects of each image I missed that I would like to think I wouldn't have missed when I was shooting full time. But who knows, maybe I just wasn't as hard on myself back then
Sometimes retirement is good for rejuvenation of the creative mind
These just have a very nice feel and look to them. Her simple beauty really shines in the settings you picked. Nice work with the light too
Looks like good mojo between photographer and subject

Karl
Karl, thanks for you compliments. The young lady was a gymnast and cheerleader, very used to being in front of an audience. I don't think she was nervous for one second the whole session which makes working with her very easy.

Very nice series of senior images! It does not look like you are rusty at all! Congrats!
Thanks, I think working on personal projects now keeps me somewhat in practice, but not like shooting everyday.

I don't remember girls looking like that when I was in high school, wow!
Oh yeah, we are here to talk about photography....great stuff...love the poses, lighting and styling...great work!
AJ, thanks for the photography comments Another photographer and I were talking about the styles both girls and boys in high school now project. While we did have beautiful girls in school back in the day, not many were walking around in as stylish clothing as they wear today. Being bombarded by fashion and advertising on a minute by minute basis versus the lower exposure we had back in the day has certainly changed the way students dress and act. Only time will tell if its a good thing.
These images are very well done, from the lighting, to location, to post production. #3 is a bit awkward in the posing and perspective (her looking back at the camera from the ground), but the rest are solid. Thank you for sharing! As mentioned earlier, you should definitely come out of retirement!
